TYPE MAIN COURSE
SERVES 2 DOUGH BALLS
DIFFICULTY EASY
PREP TIME 4 HOURS

Ingredients

  • 2 cups + 2 tbsp Tipo 00 flour
  • 1 cup lukewarm water
  • 1 tsp fine sea salt
  • ¾ tsp active dry yeast
  • 1 tsp extra virgin olive oil

Directions

  1. In a large mixing bowl, blend the flour and salt. Set aside.
  2. In another bowl, dissolve the yeast in lukewarm water and stir in olive oil.
  3. Gradually pour the liquid into the flour mixture and begin kneading by hand until a rough dough forms—this takes about 3–4 minutes. Let the dough rest for 15 minutes.
  4. Knead again for 3 minutes until the dough becomes smooth and elastic.
  5. Divide into two equal portions and roll each into a ball. Set them on a well-floured surface, then cover with a damp towel.
  6. Allow the dough to rise at room temperature for 3 to 4 hours.
  7. When ready, stretch the dough on a floured surface using your fingers to form a 12-inch round base.

Pro Tip

Want to prepare the dough in advance? After kneading, place it in the fridge for 8 to 24 hours. Just bring it to room temperature for 45 minutes before shaping your pizza.
